OFFICE NEWS

We would like to Congratulate Annika Leslie on the birth of her daughter. Madeleine Olivia was brought into the world at 12.20am on the 4th of December, weighing 3125 gram. We wish Annika and her family all the best!

We would like to welcome Daniel Douglas Thomas to the APTC team. Daniel comes to us with over 6 years experience in the Tourism Industry. Daniel will be working in the ever busy TUI department. Welcome Daniel!

APTC celebrated Christmas on the harbour. We enjoyed a leisurely night on the Sydney harbour with sea Sydney cruises. We enjoyed a night of spectacular sights and dining. Thankyou Sea Sydney Cruises for the memorable night!

We would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New year! We will be closed on the Christmas, New Year Public holidays, however we will be contactable on the emergency phone! Please note that this will be the last Newsletter until February!

WHAT’S NEW?

Kidz Club
Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas is very excited to announce the opening of their fresh, brightly renovated Kidz Club facility. Kidz Club operates during Australian School Holidays for children aged 4 – 12 years. Our adventure excursions, arts & crafts & outdoor activities are sure to delight our young guests with pool games, clay work, bikes, masks, super soaker twister, magnet mania, after dark sessions, photo shoots, puppets, puzzles and lots, lots more…

The Leo Pacific & Apartments
Leisure Inn Hotel Hospitality Group is delighted to announce the official opening date is set for 3rd December 2007. The hotel is only a 2 minute walk from the famous Melbourne GPO Shopping Centre. Extensively renovated and converted into a quality boutique hotel & apartments, it is situated within Melbourne’s prime real estate and is in a must stay location.

Dundee’s Restaurant
Dundee’s Restaurant on the waterfront is now open. They are situated in a prime water front location on the ground floor of Sebel Harbourlights. With our variety of the freshest seafood, sumptuous steaks, tantalizing pastas, fantastic salads and of course their famous Australian Fair, you’re most difficult decision will be what to choose.

Azzura Greens Resort
Azzura Greens Resort on Hope Island will be opening on 27th December. The accommodation is spacious and guests have a choice of fully air-conditioned 1 bedroom and a 2 bedroom deluxe or a 2 bedroom executive rooms all with deluxe modern furnishings and state of the art stainless steel appliances.

The resort facilities include Themed and luxury golf buggies to get around Hope Island Resort in style, Limousine service, 24 seater air-conditioned coach, Private charter boat for fishing and cruising the Gold Coast waterways, Tennis centre (Pat Cash tennis academy), Beach lagoon swimming pool and Lap pool plus much more. There is a roof top Club lounge and conference rooms available for functions or events.

Located at Hope Island Resort, Azzura Greens Resort is close to restaurants and cafés, marina, golf course and Sanctuary Cove and only minutes to major theme parks and shopping centres.

Southern Ocean Lodge
Kangaroo Island’s first luxury lodge is on track for a March 2008 opening, with the construction of Southern Ocean Lodge making waves around the world. 21 luxe suites and a spellbinding lodge and spa facility are taking shape atop a secluded stretch of wild coast in southwest Kangaroo Island. With the first two stages complete, work is well underway and on track for next years opening.

New Top end Fleet
During 2008 Connections will be replacing their entire Top End fleet. Their Toyota Coasters will be replaced with brand spanking new Isuzu 4WD All Terrain Vehicles, in fact $1.5million worth! These beauties include seat belts for all travellers, an Ipod docking station, electric refrigerator and onboard luggage racks…bring it on!

Crown Plaza Adelaide
The InterContinental Hotel Group will manage Adelaide’s newest luxury hotel. Located in the city centre at Hindmarsh Square, the 314 room hotel is due to be completed in late 2009.

Australian Soul Tours and Events
Australian Soul Tours and Events is a specialist tour operator for the German speaking market, offering a high quality Australian touring experience from 1 April 2008. The small group tours offer a unique insight into the Australian outback and an intensive exploration of its landscape, lifestyle and wildlife with focus on South Australia and the Northern Territory, featuring Kangaroo Island, the Flinders Ranges, Coober Pedy, Uluru, Kings Canyon and Kakadu. All tours provide hotel style accommodation and German speaking guides.

Banksia Adventures
Banksia’s has introduced a new and very unique tour. Please see below for details.

Opal Trail by Air (2 Days) – great opportunity to experience the elements of the Australian Outback, travelling with an expert guide in Aircraft and 4WD comfort. On this adventure clients will discover the world-famous opal fields of Coober Pedy and Andamooka, with scenery that looks like a mix of the Wild West and the moon! They will meet the people of the country, experience the history and the culture and travel through some of the most diverse countryside on earth.

Tjapukai by Night
Tjapukai by night offers a unique cultural experience for visitors. Featuring a spirit welcome, fire lighting corroboree, dance show and a full buffet dinner. See the Tjapukai dancers perform, entertain and inform the audience with an intimate performance song, dance and music interwoven with stories, experiences and knowledge passed down over the years.

And don’t forget, all guests will have their photograph taken on arrival with two of our indigenous performers. Photographs can be viewed and purchased before the show commences or at the end of the evening from the retail gallery. Photo opportunities are also available at the end of the evening around their traditional camp fire.

Ibis Glen Waverly
Opening on the 12th December 2007. The hotel is a contemporary modern design offering:

• Large open plan foyer
• Inside/outside dining
• 4 conference rooms all with natural light
• 155 accommodation rooms with queen or king zip beds.

All rooms contain LCD flat screen TV’s, wired and wireless broadband, working station. Australian Eco Adventures
Australian Eco Adventures ran two very successful familiarisation trips through the south coast of NSW with Agents from North America and the UK. After some great feedback, they have created an excellent new Diamond series package exploring the area. Your clients will experience a wine and food appreciation experience at Coolangatta Estate, canoeing, bike riding, bird watching, bushwalking, spotlighting and exploring the beaches ate Jervis Bay plus much, much more. This is an experience not to be missed!

Kangaroo Island Lodge

CHANGES & REFURBISHMENTS

Tjapukai / Skyrail
Tjapukai and Skyrail will be closed on several days in the forthcoming months due to maintenance. Please contact our office should you like more information on dates etc.

Travelodge Mirambeena Resort Darwin
Travelodge Mirambeena will be undergoing refurbishment and is expected to be completed from 20th December 2007.

Pacific International Cairns
Pacific International Cairns existing restaurant will be undergoing refurbishment for 2 months commencing in April 2008. During this period breakfast and dinner will be provided in their Pacific Harbour Room.

Mercure Grosvenor Hotel Adelaide
Mercure Grosvenor has completed a huge refurbishment on all rooms. Each room now boast new beds with fluffy duvets, modern and stylish furniture and slim lined LCD TVs. All rooms have broadband internet access, Foxtel Channels and pay per view movies. The hotel features the popular Federal Restaurant and Bar and wonderfully refurbished conference facilities for up to 300 delegates.

Desert Quads
Desert Quads ceased trading on the 25th November.

Mercure Hotel Welcome
All rooms of the Mercure Hotel Welcome will be undergoing refurbishments from 2nd January 2008- 4th July 2008.

Phillip Island Skybox
Phillip Island Nature Park is pleased to announce the Penguin Skybox has been re-developed and expanded. The new and improved Penguin Skybox now holds a total of 10 people during the nightly Penguin Parade. The Group is escorted by their own private ranger to the comfort of an elevated viewing tower. Perfect for couples or for any of your clients who want a premium penguin viewing experience away from the crowds, inside an exclusive viewing tower, with a personal ranger.

Paradise on the Beach
Paradise on the beach will be undergoing a complete refurbishment from 1st February – 1st March 2008. The resort will be closed during this period; all effected guests have been re-located.

Voyages Sydney Office
The Voyages Sydney office will be closed from Saturday the 22nd December 2007, reopening on Wednesday the 2nd of January 2008.

Australian Pinnacle Tours
Australian Pinnacle Tours have decided to implement a new summer lunch menu on their day tours. Effective 1 December 2007 they will be replacing the hot chicken dish with two new summer salads (e.g. Chilli Pasta, Coleslaw or a seafood salad). They will continue to supply the usual picnic style range of cold meats, salads and fruit. When winter returns they will return to the hot chicken dish.

Stella Hospitality
As a dynamic 2007 draws to a close at Stella Hospitality, has announced that Mantra will become Australia’s largest accommodation master brand with the consolidation of the Mantra & Saville portfolio’s. All properties currently operating under the Saville brand and many under the Pacific International brand will be re-branded to Mantra by the end of March 2008.

Skywalk
From the 1st of January Skywalk will be a 40 minute experience along with rate changes and new booking procedures.

Cairns Colonial Club
On Monday 26th November, a soft refurbishment will commence at the resort beginning with the Standard rooms all of which will be completed by the end of March 2008. The end result will be a revamped and refreshed Cairns Colonial Club Resort! Work will begin initially in the Standard rooms, followed by the Colonial & Studio rooms. Significant changes will be made to all of the rooms, creating a more modern look and contemporary feel.

The Ghan and Indian Pacific
Effective 1 January 2008, that there will no longer be a Lounge Car available for Red (Kangaroo) Service passengers travelling on The Ghan and Indian Pacific.

Skyrail
Skyrail pride themselves on their high standards of safety and reliability. To maintain these high standards, it is necessary that they undertake programmed preventative maintenance works from time to time. Sometimes these works require the closure of the cableway for a short period of time. These works will require the cableway to be closed for short periods of time. The first dates that will be closed are as following:
Monday 17th December – Tuesday 18th December

Captiol Square Hotel Sydney
Please note a name change to this property from Capitol Square Hotel managed by Rydges to Capitol Square Hotel Sydney.

Rydges Palmerston North
Rydges Hotels & Resorts wishes to advise that as of 1 October 2007 Rydges Coachman, Palmerston North will no longer operate under the Rydges Hotels & Resorts banner and will be re-branded as Hotel Coachman and Suites.
