  • Virgin Blue has launched new direct flights between Sydney and Hamilton Island commencing 4 July.

  • Flights operate daily, departing Sydney at 10:15 and touch down at Hamilton Island at 12:45 before departing the Island at 13:15 and landing in Sydney at 15:45.

  • All Seasons Magnetic Island joined the Accor network.

Kuranda Scenic Railway

  • Sal Salis has partnered with Ocean Eco Adventures to offer exclusive Whale Shark encounters between 31 March 2009 and 30 June 2009.
  • The tour is aboard the 18metre vessel ‘keshi mer’ which has comfortable cushioned seating, a large shaded deck area with open sides enabling uninterrupted viewing of wildlife. A dive platform allows easy access to get in and out of the water if you choose to snorkel on their day tours. 

The Sebel Mandurah

  • In June this year, The Sebel Mandurah will boast luxury 4.5 star waterfront accommodation, just 50 minutes drive south of Perth.

  • They have made the decision to suspend any further bookings for FIT language tours effective immediately. This applies to three tour codes:

 Mantra Aqua, Nelson Bay

  • The resort will close for building defect repairs from 1 June to 15 September 2009.

  • The end result will ensure the unsightly leeching on balconies as well as the render cracks fixed permanently.

 Mount ‘N Beach Safaris, Blue Mountains High Country Tour

  • The itinerary for the Blue Mountains High Country Tour has slightly changed.

  • Their new Itinerary can be seen on our online facility iCom.

 Pensione Hotel Sydney

  • The first stage of the refurbishment is under way.

  • So far the rooms have been completely stripped of carpet and furnishings and power points and TV brackets have been repositioned. Painting is about to start which will be followed by double glazing all windows on George Street and new carpet being laid.

  • There has been little or no effect on the guests.

 Sydney Attractions Group, Sydney Wildlife World

  • Sydney Wildlife World now closes at 5:30pm, and last entry is at 4:30pm.

  • Opening hours for Sydney Aquarium and SydneyTower+Oztrek will not change, and remain as follows:

    Sydney Aquarium: Everyday 9:00am– 10:00pm (Last entry at 9:00pm)

 Northern Territory  Discovery Ecotours Australia

  • Discovery Ecotours Australia will no longer be running the Pitjantjatjara Lands - Cave Hill Tours as of 30th June 2009.

  • Due to recent damage to art work and continuing issues with un-authorised entry to the Cave Hill area, the traditional landowners of Cave Hill have decided to stop all access to everyone (including other Anangu) unless accompanied by Desert Tracks staff or on a Desert Tracks tour.

  • Desert Tracks will be the only operator to have Cave Hill access and will be conducting Cave Hill tours as of 1 July 2009.

Mantra on the Esplanade, Darwin

  • A soft refurbishment has been completed for 190 rooms including new carpets, beddings, lounge room furniture and flat screen TV’s.

  • FINZ Restaurant and Bar is the new restaurant at this property offering contemporary styling, fantastic atmosphere with quality modern Australian cuisine with 24 hours room service available.

 Red Centre Dreaming Dinner & Show

  • Its operation will be suspended until there is a sustained recovery in inbound tourism. This affects both FIT and group reservations.

  • The last Show is on 08 June 09.

 Skycity Darwin

  • Skycity Darwin is pleased to advise that all refurbishments have now been completed.

  • They are showcasing 15 new rooms including new bathrooms which now feature corner showers.

 Queensland  Angsana Resort & Spa, Great Barrier Reef

  • Angsana Resort and Spa will be renovating one of their three swimming pools, the rock pool, in June and will close the pool and attached Jacuzzi for this work to be completed.

  • Work will commence on Monday June 1st and conclude by Wednesday June 10th. Work will be carried out between the hours of 9.00am to 5.00pm and minimal noise is expected.

  • During the period of works the other two swimming pools, the main pool and the beach pool will remain open as normal.

 BreakFree Reef Club, Port Douglas

  • Effective 15 May 09, BreakFree Reef Club, Port Douglas will be removed from the BreakFree portfolio and Stella Hospitality Group will no longer facilitate reservations.

  • The new name is Reef Club Resort.

 BreakFree Paradise Centre, Surfers Paradise

  • They recently commenced a refurbishment of Level 6 Pool Area, continuing from the complete upgrade of the on-site gym.
  • Hours of work: 6.30am to 3pm Monday to Friday; 6.30am to 1pm Saturday
  • Possible impact on guests: No access to pool, saunas, tennis courts, gym or BBQ for entire period and noise, vibrations etc from work.
  • Expected finish date: 24 August 2009

 Bushwacker Eco Tours, Fraser Island tours

  • Over the past 3 years, Bushwacker Eco Tours has been land carriers for Australian Day Tours 1 day and 2 day Fraser Island tours.
  • Australian Day Tours are no longer offering a 1 day Fraser Island tour from the Gold Coast as part of their product range.
  • Bushwacker Eco Tours will continue to be offering this tour directly from both Brisbane and the Gold Coast, along with their other tours.
  • Bushwacker Eco Tours are the only operator using comfortable 16 seater forward facing vehicles for 1 day Fraser Island tours.
  • The 1 day Fraser Island tour departs on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturdays and Sundays.
  • Their 2 day Fraser Island tour departs on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturdays.

 Mercure Port Douglas Treetops Resort

  • This property was formerly known as Mantra Treetops Resort Port Douglas.
  • As it recently joined the Accor networked they changed the name to Mercure Port Douglas Treetops Resort.

 Quicksilver, Cairns

  • The annual maintenance for ‘Wavedancer’ starts on Monday 23rd November 2009 and returns to operation on Monday 14th December 2009.
  • During that time, Quicksilver will be running ‘Quicksilver V’ to Low Isles on selected dates.
  • ‘Quicksilver V’ is not a sailing boat. Due to the boat being faster there is the added bonus of having an extra 90 minutes approximately at the island.

 Peppers Hidden Vale

  • At Peppers Hidden Vale full Breakfast is no longer available; it has been replaced by the Parisian Breakfast.
  • Parisian Breakfast includes: Fresh fruits, Yogurt, Cereals, Pastries, Tea & Coffee.

 Sofitel Brisbane Central

  • Sofitel Brisbane Grand Central has changed its name to Sofitel Brisbane Central.

 Victoria  Cobb & Co, Melbourne Airport

  • Melbourne Airport has advised that effectively immediately, security policies regarding unattended vehicles will be strictly enforced.
  • As a consequence, all coach companies including Dysons Cobb & Co. drivers are to remain with their vehicles at all times and the coach captain will not be permitted to meet passengers inside Melbourne Airport Terminal.
  • Passengers will be required to meet Coach Captains at the bus parking area outside the terminal.

 Novotel Melbourne St Kilda

  • They are happy to announce that the $7.5 million refurbishment at Novotel Melbourne St Kilda is now complete.
  • The main foyer has been totally refurbished, along with the hotel’s restaurant. The brand new restaurant fully optimises its prime Esplanade location with an indoor/outdoor dining concept in classic bar and grill style.
  • The hotel’s 209 Bay View and City View rooms and suites have received complete upgrades. All rooms now boast a fresh, contemporary new look that is at once chic and relaxed, in keeping with St Kilda’s laidback beachside vibe and city fringe location. Additionally, the hotel’s public areas now feature a refreshing new look.

 Sofitel Mansion & Spa

  • Sofitel Mansion & Spa has undergone a name change and is now Sofitel Werribee Park Mansion Hotel & Spa.

 Western Australia  All Seasons Margaret River

  • All Seasons Margaret River has left the Accor network.
  • It is now part of Constellation Group and its new name is Australis Margaret River.

 Wild Bush Luxury, Sal Salis

  • Sal Salis will be closed from the 10th of January to the 14th of March 2010 for planned expansion to the property
