Earthquake New Zealand – Update 7
Posted on December 14, 2016 by APTC in APTC New Zealand

Dear partners and colleagues,

Before the festive season starts, we thought we would provide you with an update on Kaikoura and the surrounding areas.

We anticipate hearing news that more activity operators will become operational once the marina access is resolved. The majority of retail, hospitality and general service outlets are open for business.

Ferry crossings
* All ferry services with Interislander and Bluebridge sailings are fully operational.

Kiwi Rail – Coastal Pacific (unchanged)
* Railway is not operating

Roads Update
* SH1 remains closed between Blenheim – Kaikoura – Christchurch.

* New Zealand Transport Agency contractors and local crews are working hard to re-establish access to Kaikoura from the south via State Highway 1. The aim is to restore single-lane controlled access for residents and essential services before Christmas. This is dependent on weather and any further significant seismic activity.

* All roads within Kaikoura township and the surrounding areas are open.

Accommodation, activities and attractions are all OPEN in neighbouring regions of Marlborough, Nelson, Tasman, Hanmer Springs, the West Coast and Christchurch

If  you and your clients have any queries or concerns about their current New Zealand plans, please advise them to email us or call our Emergency Phone +64 27 209 2323 for assistance.

Thank you for all your continued support and understanding during this time. We will keep you updated as we work through the changes.
